In the movie world, it is very common for 2 sets of props to be made. An expensive version, often called the "Hero" version, used for photo ops and marketing. This is what we model the Limited Edition version after. Then there are the filming model or "Stunt" version.
Often there were several sabers made as they were needed for filming, choreography in scenes, etc… More often than not, it is the stunt version that you would see the characters using. As it can require many takes to get a scene right, these stunt props were often subject to very hard use.
